Loadshedding

Energy, particularly derived from coal, is the cornerstone of South Africa's economy, powering various sectors and ensuring access to affordable electricity. The ACT emphasises the importance of continued coal investment for economic growth and poverty alleviation, while advocating for a balanced energy portfolio encompassing fossil fuels, nuclear, hydro, and renewables to address the nation's energy needs effectively and sustainably.

1. Nuclear Energy:

We will build two new nuclear power stations, providing affordable, reliable, and clean energy with a lifespan of 60 to 80 years.

2. Eskom:

We will recapitalise Eskom and refurbish its fleet to ensure optimal performance and the production of reliable, affordable electricity.

3. Carbon Capture:

We will explore Carbon Capture, Utilisation, and Storage technologies to minimise the impact of fossil fuel emissions.

4. Transparency:

We will investigate all IPP contracts signed under secrecy, recover public funds where there was wrongdoing, and hold criminals accountable.

ACT WILL PUT AN END
