Education

Education is a cornerstone of national development, shaping individuals and societies. The ACT recognises its pivotal role in fostering economic, social, and political progress. Our vision of education encompasses accessibility, quality, and relevance, with a commitment to total and decolonized learning.

1. Total Education:

The ACT advocates for a comprehensive educational framework, spanning from early childhood development to higher education, ensuring that no child is left behind. This encompasses foundational, basic, further, technical, and occupational education, providing diverse pathways for all learners.

2. Foundational Education Enhancement:

Early childhood development forms the bedrock of learning. The ACT pledges to fully subsidise early childhood education, ensuring access to quality developmental programs and nutritional support.

3. Decolonised Curriculum:

Emphasising African values and solutions, the ACT promotes an Afro-centric curriculum that addresses the continent’s challenges. By centering on African knowledge systems, we aim to empower learners to contribute meaningfully to societal development.

4. Compulsory Basic Education:

Basic education will be compulsory and free, with a focus on core subjects, African languages, and life skills. Private education providers will operate alongside public schools but won’t receive the same benefits.

5. Accessible Further Education:

The ACT wilfully fund bachelor’s degrees and national diplomas, providing subsidised accommodation and meals to university students. Technical education through TVET colleges will also be fully funded, offering diverse qualifications and resources.

6. Post-Education Training:

Graduates will undergo compulsory post-education training programs, promoting employability and skills development. Sector-specific authorities will oversee training, ensuring alignment with industry needs and accreditation standards.

7. As essential services, the state will provide primary school and secondary school teachers with certain benefits and privileges, which include exemption from contributingPay-As-You-Earn(PAYE) tax.

8. ACT government will introduce a state-owned book store which will procure, produce and distribute academic books to all public schools.

9. School Nutrition Programme:

ACT will introduce a school nutrition program, which will play a crucial role in advancing access to education through fundamental nourishment during school hours, especially for learners coming from underprivileged socio-economic backgrounds.
